Komak - Protect those in need app for iPhone and iPad

Komak is an app that aims to help protect those most in need during these trying times.

All over the world, healthy volunteers are offering to help out their at risk neighbors with basic chores, such as going for a grocery run or picking up a prescription from the pharmacy.

Komak provides a digital platform to enable such initiatives to act more efficiently, removing costs and friction to NGOs and healthy individuals that just want to help out.

Our society is facing a crisis, and it is up to both governments and individuals to do whatever is in their power to stop the spread of the disease, and protect those most vulnerable amongst us. This is our way of helping, and it can be yours too!

Our app has global scope and can be used by any adult that either wants to volunteer or needs help with their chores.

When joining as a user, you will have to select your role:
1. Volunteer, for anyone that is healthy and willing to help out one of their neighbors
2. In need, for anyone that is in need of volunteering services

Generally, the people in need are the elderly, immuno-compromised or those that have already been infected and for which going out for groceries involves exposing the outside world to an unnecessary risk.

Safety

The safety of everyone using our app for good is of utmost concern.

We have been in contact with medical professionals and have drafted User Instructions depending on your role using our app. Our general recommendations are to follow the W.H.O. guidelines for health, and, more importantly, always keep informed and follow your local and national health institutions guidelines strictly.

When it comes to helping with chores, our instructions have been vetted by medical professionals to make sure that every single user works towards reducing the risk of infection to a minimum. Please act accordingly and stay safe!

Who we are

Komak is built by the Nabo, an NGO registered in Denmark. The founders are three young professionals that felt the need to take part in fighting the current crisis, and helped by many other contributors which have come together to take part of the initiative.

Wed like to take a moment here to thank everyone that has helped us, and everyone that will be part of our adventure going forward.

Komak is an open-source initiative that anyone, no matter their background or location, can contribute to.

We are a volunteer-led organization and community. Anyone everywhere can help our initiative in the following ways:

- Become a volunteer by downloading the app

- Spreading the word, especially with the people most in need of volunteer services

- Development; Time is of the essence - you can find out what you can help develop according to our plans on our github.

- Other skills; We can use all the help we can get. Please contact us through our website by sending an email and any relevant work you’ve done.

- Join our open Slack community. We have channels both for users of the app and people that want to contribute with feedback and ideas. We’re eager to hear and learn from you!
